thursday purgeday: the type a who’d lost her way

If you want a golden rule that will fit everything, this is it: Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful. – William Morris

When Morgan started this Thursday Purgeday project, I was inspired. It had been awhile since I really took a look at this office I call home/home I call office (tomato, tomahto) and did some Spring Cleaning. I likened the Thurs. Purge to having a gym buddy, a way to pressure/inspire/drive me to tidy up a bit. (Tidy up a lot.)

Like a healthy diet/exercise combo, if I was inclined towards that sort of thing, it started off really well. I was shedding papers and clutter. Things were looking good. But now I’ve sort of hit a plateau. I was a Type A who’d lost her way, and now I’m getting back in the swing of things. But I’m not done yet.

I’m clearing out the files and drawers, shredding like mad, and embracing the feng shui principle of allowing good things in by making space for them.

Speaking of feng shui, after reading this article via @JenerationPR, I’ve learned my office is an utter failure when it comes to the ways in which you can embrace the ancient art. Total, absolute failure.

I don’t know if I believe in feng shui. But I don’t think it hurts to consider the possibilities.

Artistic inspiration comes in many forms, and I’ll take what I can get.

So, in the next few weeks I’m playing around with ways to let in more creativity, let go of more clutter, and maybe add a bit more fire, metal and water elements. Because it couldn’t hurt, right?

So stay tuned and please join in the Thursday Purge (click below). Because it takes a village to get any vacuuming done in this place. xo a.
